The more Lumi read of this version of the mythology, the more she grew suspicious.

From the earlier interactions she and Hope had with Agape, it was clear that while she and Astrid had some similarities in personality, the Goddess of Love had her own distinct quirks. As did all these others, surely.

And while it was admittedly quite possible for one of Astrid’s power to design the universe as this version seemed to state…some things still didn’t add up.

The fact that a difference of mythological accounts existed at all with Astrid apparently being okay with it meant someone somewhere had tried to hide something. Surely not Astrid herself, she definitely didn’t seem the type for it. Someone very high up, to be certain.

Beside her, Hope sighed contentedly as she continued reading her novel. The sound broke Lumi out of her train of speculation, and she took this opportunity to let her sister lean closer into her side, the warmth from Hope further soothing her.

Ilta ended up coming over by Lumi and Hope around this point.  “Are you enjoying what you’re reading?” she asked, deciding to take a seat nearby them.

Hope’s smile was practically glowing as she nodded in response to Ilta’s query. “This novel is really good.”

Lumi nodded more slowly. “What I’ve read has been very informative…but some things don’t seem to line up. Hope and I got to meet Agape just before we got into this library. She was different enough from Astrid that this depiction of her in the book isn’t quite right.”

Finding the section of the book on the Goddess of Love, Lumi glanced at it. “You mentioned the difference between accounts earlier. For what I’ve read to be the…official…version, someone of great power within the faith must have laid it down. Couldn’t be for good reasons.”

Trawling slowly through a few pages, Yellow took a moment to collect her thoughts before answering.

“It’s so much like a science. The use of this math almost perfectly matches certain functions my people believed were achievable only through the most advanced technology we had. With the Arcane…you could do it yourself.”

Yellow’s finger pressed on a particularly complex equation of Arcane Magic. “This one…an Einstein-Rosen bridge. A wormhole. One from the user’s own energy, if the Primer is right.”

The healer’s soft tone was filled with wonder, her eyes alight with a spark she hadn’t felt in decades. Her (far) younger days as a cadet at Starfleet Academy, spent poring over datapads afresh. Before, she’d only given the idea of learning magic, whatever the system, a mere passing thought. Now…

“I want to learn more.“

Vesperr nodded.  “I suppose that’s fair,” he declared.  “Learning the arcane arts are quite fascinating.  We should get you to the Mage’s Guild before we leave then so you can at least take some classes on magic.”

If Yellow had to guess, the Mage’s Guild sounded like the definitive center for all types of mystical academia.

A chance to learn anew, and in something like Arcane Magic no less. A priceless opportunity if there ever was one.

“Sounds like a plan,” she agreed. “I assume their headquarters is here as well. But what about these books on Arcane Magic here in the library?”

Of the pile of books beside Yellow that she’d gestured to, 3 were on Arcane Magic specifically. “To borrow them would be nice, but…I’m technically not a citizen.”

The mention of this inconsistency between mythological details aroused some suspicion in Lumi, though she kept her silence for the moment.

Hope, meanwhile, smiled at the chance to enjoy some novels. Both sisters left Ilta be with warm nods, finding their own books and a place to sit beside each other after her helpfully highlighting the relevant sections for them.

While Hope busied herself with what seemed like a romance novel (she really did like those), Lumi began poring over the long history of Terra Ancora’s pantheon.

The mythological details present in the library seemed to indicate that every god in the universe was just a fragment of Astrid.  That she had created the universe herself and split herself into smaller, but still divine fragments to help better administrate the universe.

Of the gods present on Terra Ancora, outside of Astrid and Agape, there was Lux, Zoe, Skotadi, Kronos, Death, Renat, Irfan, Aelius, Chaos, Nomiki, Polemos, Gauner, Ye-Jun, Ferdinand, Kaimana, and Burza.  Each god had their own domains and abilities, though details on certain gods like Irfan and Aelius were difficult to come by.

The more Lumi read of this version of the mythology, the more she grew suspicious.

Fascinated by the highlighted array of books available, Yellow bowed to the angel with a soft “Thank you” before approaching the shelf in question.

Golden eyes glowed softly as the healer browsed the various titles. Surprisingly, the text of them was close enough to English that it was automatically legible to her. Magic – The Foundation and Future. Book of Caeri. Arcane Primer, 3rd Edition. Spellstone Lexicon, Revised. And many more titles that seemed either academic or personal.

Picking up those that held her interest most of all, Yellow soon found a table to herself with a comfy armchair, five books by her side as she began reading.

Half an hour later into the first few books, Yellow had gathered to herself the following facts. There were multiple types of magic practiced on Terra Ancora, with Spellstones being the most widely used.

Useful, but she didn’t want to tie herself to a material supply. Holy Magic was quite potent…but a questionable prospect for herself even with the Holy Drive’s existence.

But what fascinated her most of all was the oldest of Terra Ancora’s mystic arts. Arcane Magic.

Though apparently manifesting in different ways depending on the user, all Arcane Magic relied heavily on applications of high-order math. Something she could handle with ease even without her AI. With that, Yellow decided to delve deeper into the Arcane Primer.

So engrossed was the healer in her learning that she eventually lost track of time, psychically feeling the minds of her party members approaching the library before she saw them moments later.

Thrud looked at the book that Yellow was reading.  “Studying up on the Arcane?” she asked.  “What might you have learned about it?”

With each movement from Wolf, Red(F) whimpered, the amplified and shared pleasure driving her wild, just as it did him.

Her body practically molded itself against his, every slick thrust into her depths answered by another rocking of her hips. She had no words for how good it felt. Feeling every inch of Wolf sheathe and unsheathe within her was beyond words.

Red(F)’s delighted moans and cries continued unabated, red eyes glowing and half-lidded from the haze of ecstasy their coupling caused.

Lumi went first. “Perhaps any material on Ancoran mythology. The rest of the pantheon sounds interesting to read about.”

After meeting Agape, Lumi wanted to know more about the other deities. A minor curiosity, but one she entertained.

Hope was a lot more sentimental in her taste of books. “Are there any novels?”

Ilta nodded.  “There are a few books on Ancoran mythology, though I must warn you that they follow the official Imperial version,” she advised.  “The details of this mythology are likely inconsistent with the mythology practiced by everyone else owing to Imperial propaganda.  As for novels, yes, we have more than a few of those available for you to look over.”

The mention of this inconsistency between mythological details aroused some suspicion in Lumi, though she kept her silence for the moment.

“Not in particular, no.” Yellow replied, thinking on what she needed.

She was practically a newcomer to learning about the mystic arts. Looking for specific spells wouldn’t serve her at this point in time.

“But if there’s a general overview of magic, I could start with that.”

The angel smiled.  “Yes, we do have some general books on magic,” she mentioned, before the area was magically highlighted to Yellow.  “Feel free to browse these book as long as you like.”

Fascinated by the highlighted array of books available, Yellow bowed to the angel with a soft “Thank you” before approaching the shelf in question.

Thor’s intelligence is often overlooked.

Okay but for real though.

Like, I could come up with a bunch of examples of Thor being hella smart, but let’s go with the most obvious one in this movie.

Thor specifically told the Guardians NOT to go to Knowhere. He told them they wouldn’t be able to stop Thanos from getting the Reality Stone anyway, and knew 100% that he needed to be more powerful to face him.

Not only was he right in the sense that, with Stormbreaker, he came super close to defeating Thanos with all 6 Stones, but also, if the Guardians had all gone with him to Nidavellir instead, Thanos wouldn’t have captured Gamora, he wouldn’t have found the Soul Stone, and he would’ve had to face the Avengers AND the Guardians on earth with one less Stone.

Moral of the story: Thor is INCREDIBLY smart and 100% knows what he’s doing, and people need to start paying attention to him more.
