telling your kids that they can only ever trust family or that family is all they’ve got is the most toxic fucked up twisted manipulative shit and i would rather die than let myself believe that

Who hurt you

my parents

Seriously, though: Friends and communities can be super supportive and much more healthy than a family. If you have a toxic or unsafe family situation, lok to your friends and/or the community you’re a part of – they can be life-savers.

On a Peak Towards Adventure

“I see. Seems you pulled Red using that fifth Orb, huh?” Lux pondered.

“This Tactician’s Insight thing, is it some sort of analysis-based skill? Sounds like you can assess someone or some group within seconds.”

At least, that was implied. It seemed quite the useful skill on the tactical and perhaps even the strategic level.

“Aye,” the Summoner replied.  “It lets me see things that other people can’t.  The strength of my foes, the effectiveness of our weapons, the probability of success and defeat in battle, movement and weapon range, special abilities they might have, exploitable weaknesses like a vulnerability to armor-piercing weapons, and more.

“It can be used at a distance to analyze the whole enemy party at once, but all I get is a sum total of their stats, and how many there are in their party, which as you might imagine isn’t very useful for me for anything except the most basic of planning.

“I can’t exactly teach this technique though, since I kinda randomly acquired it myself.  This, combined with my Summoning Magic, is why I was made the chief tactician of the Order of Heroes.”

The AI nodded with a hum as they entered the forges proper. “I see…”

Upon seeing Red working near a nano-forge with a holoscreen while looking at a few blocks of raw materials, Lux piped up and waved. “Admiral! You called for me, right?”

The Fleet Admiral turned, and seeing Lux alongside the Summoner brought him a look of warm relief. “Yeah. It’s good to see you here, Lux. Since you’re here, guess that moogle traveled there and back safely. Sorry for the abrupt call, but I’d appreciate your help for now in setting up a Tier I defensive node in this castle. Focus on power generation and medical systems first.”

Ever the cheerful one, Lux nodded with a tiny salute and a smile. “Alright~.”

As the AI waltzed off elsewhere to begin elegantly creating machinery straight out of thin air and shimmering light, Red turned his attention to the Summoner.

“Summoner, if I may request something. I understand the necessity of our current war effort, but I’d like to create a new personal weapon for myself first. A project I’ve put off for quite a while, to put it simply.”

Red gestured to the holoscreen, which had an elegant-looking design on it, seemingly a hybrid between a really long-barreled handgun and a single-edged saber.

“I figure this will help a lot.”
