So the sisters did. This time their journey was slower, with them merely walking, all the better for enjoying each other’s company and warmth.

Before long, they found themselves at the entrance to the Temple Library. As with pretty much everything else in the Temple, its decor was quite elegant.

Lumi exhaled, quietly grateful for this place’s existence. A library was always a place she could find solace in. And with Hope by her side, this place would be perfect.

There were a number of scribes present in the library organizing a number of documents.  There also seemed to be an angel present in the library, holding a datapad.  She had bronze skin and a fairly muscular build, though she was shorter at only 5′6″ and slimmer than Astrid.  Her hair was a metallic gold and her eyes silver.

Her outfit amounted to a strapless bra with no shirt and a dress covering her lower legs.  She almost looked like she was Astrid’s kid.  This angel turned to look at Lumi and Hope.  “Oh, hello there!” she said, her voice soothing to hear.  “Welcome to the library.  Is there something I can do to assist you while you are here?”

Lumi bowed her head to the librarian politely, as did Hope. An angel was a curious sight, but hardly a surprise given where they were. “I merely wish to spend some time here reading. We’re here sightseeing, you see.”

Hope gazed with much tenderness and a blissful smile at Lumi before meeting the angel’s kind look. “I hope there’s a quiet spot we can both read at.”

“I’ll let you find our place of rest.” Yellow replied softly.

Though, given that this was Larstern, she had no idea if inns were still the stopover of choice. She was fine with resting anywhere, but since she was here, perhaps she could expand her horizons a little further.

Thrud’s earlier usage of her Holy Drive had planted some seeds of curiosity in the healer, and she wanted to learn more.

“I wouldn’t mind finding books or some academia to read while we rest.”

“Let’s rest in the temple then,” Thrud declared.  “There’s a library here you can use for some reading while we’re here, and I’m sure you can appreciate resting within mom’s holy ground.”

Yellow seemed to ponder the matter of the library for a moment, before nodding to Thrud and then directing a thought to Astrid.

Miss Astrid, I wish to look for the library here. Thrud told me about it, and there is something I wish to research while I am here.

Whether or not Astrid could ascertain her intentions, Yellow didn’t know. But she was determined to learn more about the magic that seemed so prevalent and widespread on Terra Ancora.

Lumi looked quite relieved upon ‘hearing’ that. “That’s great news. Then…”

She looked to Hope, her sister looking back quizzically until she just voiced a suggestion. “Temple? Larstern?”

Hope took a moment to think. “Maybe both? Temple first, then Larstern? We can see if there’s any differences.”

Lumi found that a sensible decision and nodded, so back to Astrid her thoughts went. “We think we’ll visit the Temple library first, then the one in Larstern.”

And thus the green arrows appeared at Hope and Lumi’s feet.  “Alright then, just follow the green arrows and you’ll get to the Temple Library then!” Astrid declared.  It was going to be interesting to see what they thought of the Temple Library.

“I’m a full-conversion cyborg, I’ll be fine…” Yellow said with a slight wave of the hand.

Upon consideration, however, she stopped and looked up to Thrud. Probably too big a thing to drop on them all of a sudden.

“On second thought…maybe resting will do us all good.”

“Might be a good idea for us to rest,” Thrud admitted.  “It’s been a lot of stuff we’ve been through one after the other.  No need to push ourselves too much.”

“I’ll let you find our place of rest.” Yellow replied softly.

“Fifteen years of that, huh?”  Tempest murmured. “I get the feeling that might get old. Although it might be nice to have someone looking out for you like that…”

The elder gave her two sisters another light, affectionate squeeze.

“That’s enough for now, Akemi.” She decided.

Adana was practically vibrating with excitement. It was pretty obvious she was squealing internally at the chance to have her own pet tribble. “Yes! Yes please, sis!”

Dawn grinned and gave a thumbs-up to Tempest. “I’ll go anywhere if it’s with you two. Besides, first time going planetside like this, I wanna feel it myself. Can’t say no to seeing tribbles.”

Hope giggled watching the three carrier sisters, affectionately holding Lumi close as the tribble on her lap purred. “Ah…this is wonderful.”

“Then it’s decided.” Tempest said proudly. “I’m going to see the Vice Admiral first thing tomorrow to request our leave.”

Clearly, resisting the temptation to reach out and steal the purring pet, she occupied her hands by hugging her sisters closer to herself.

“Pack a bag, you two, we’re going for a holiday!”

Adana snuggled into the hug while Dawn wrapped an arm around Tempest’s waist.

“Okaaay!” They both answered, returning the hug as best they could before they left Tempest’s quarters for a moment to begin packing.

That left just Hope and Lumi with her, the latter continuing to softly converse with the carrier. “So…each of you plan on getting your own tribble, I’m guessing? They’re very helpful.”

“Having a pet would be a good start for me, acting like a human.” Tempest decided. “I think I miss having someone or something to look after. A few tribbles are never going to replace a Battlegroup, but… at least it’s a start.”

Lumi gave Tempest a very empathetic look, even while the tribble she petted began purring a bit deeper.

“It never truly will. I feel the same for my Battlegroup Jericho…though, some things make up for it.”

At the same time Lumi said that, Hope hugged her close and squeezed her free hand. Clearly she knew how much even bringing up this similarity of experiences affected her sister.

Nonetheless, Lumi was comforted enough to maintain her attention on Tempest. A small smile graced her. “Though…with how she is, I think you’ll find Aegis will be the one taking care of you.”

“Well, we’re not really hungry at the moment either…”

Hope’s mental reply was laced with much pondering, the maid shipgirl thinking of other possible places where both she and Lumi could enjoy themselves.

Though it was Lumi who chimed in with a requesting suggestion of her own. “Is there a library we can visit?”

“Yes there is!” Astrid replied.  “We have one in the Temple, and there’s another one in Larstern you can visit!”

Lumi looked quite relieved upon ‘hearing’ that. “That’s great news. Then…”

She looked to Hope, her sister looking back quizzically until she just voiced a suggestion. “Temple? Larstern?”

“I’ll keep that in mind, Frau Astrid.” Yellow answered, grasping her other arm in an attempt to soothe herself.

“Thank you…for willing to see me. Abschied…

With that, she turned to her party. Considering her emotional exhaustion, the healer seemed strangely tense, at least physically. “I’m done here, my friends.”

Thrud nodded to Yellow.  “Right then, guess it’s back to questing for us,” she replied.  “Though you sure you don’t want to rest up here for the night?”

“I’m a full-conversion cyborg, I’ll be fine…” Yellow said with a slight wave of the hand.
