“The highest in command is Sheik, but in his state right now, he’s in no shape to command.” The commander said, “Also, you’ve been put into command by Royal authority. You outrank even him.”

The sound of several aircraft flying in, and soon the sound of sirens notified the entire base of an attack by dive bombers.

“FUCK, STUKAS!!!!!” The commander yelled, “BRACE!!!!”

The divebombers released their payloads, the bombs exploding upon hitting the ground, and the Stukas began to strafe the ground with their 20mm guns.

“Get near me!” Yellow cried out as she flung a hand outwards, the barrier projector coming to life as a dome of shimmering gold energy expanded from her.

Bullets were deflected with impunity, bomb explosions absorbed by the barrier as it expanded to cover quite a few people.

With her other hand, Yellow drew and unfolded her collapsed Caduceus staff, a golden stream of medical bio-nanites healing those who were injured. Fortunately, the commander she’d spoken to was largely unharmed.

“Is there someone else below Sheik in the line of succession I can talk to?” Yellow asked them hurriedly. “I’m not the appropriate leader for you all.”

Exhausted after several days of battle, the patched up Wolf found himself falling face first into the cleavage of a certain busty Admiral. “Sorry, Red…” He said, not even bothering to push himself off, moaning in pain. He was incredibly sore and tired.

“Wolf?!” Red(F) squeaked with surprise as she supported Wolf’s weight even as his face remained buried in her cleavage. She hurriedly brought him over to the couch, laying him on it. “Rest first, I’ll go get hypos…”

Wolf didn’t even resist, laying on the couch, taking time to breath. A twinge of pain went through his leg, causing him to wince and let out a sharp breath. Something about one of the lasers from the Scorpion’s Hand guns… It left him feeling weak even after Yellow had tried to heal him.

Red(F) worked quickly, having Serina prepare a drone with a basic set of Bouzac-tuned medical hyposprays.

Keying her omni-tool’s firmware for medical care, she returned to Wolf’s side as the drone arrived with the hyposprays.

Red(F) focused, a soft beep signalling the readiness of each hypospray as she administered their contents steadily, the hypos making soft hisses as they did. Some were analgesics, relieving pain as best they could.

Others were nano-meds, serving as temporary versions of the standard nanotech-based Personal Medical System possessed by every Initiative citizen. If there was a disease afflicting Wolf, the nano-meds would help fight it off.

“Your cleavage is as hot as ever.” Wolf admitted to Red(F). Well, it seemed his perverted side was still around, so his mental state was okay. The analgesics had the added affect of causing him to become sleepier then before.

Closing his eyes, Wolf went to sleep on the couch as the drone worked on his wounds and whatever afflicted him.

An hour later, once Wolf had woken up, Red(F) was sitting beside him. Near her, sitting at a table was a softly murmuring Konno Shiori, playing with some sort of schematic on her omni-tool.

“So, Wolf…if you’re here, who’s leading the BEA over at Bouzacula? Isn’t the reclamation effort still going on?” Red(F) asked.

“Should be Anna… oh shit.” Wolf muttered, “Fucking hell, I went and put Yellow in command! FUCK, I CAN’T FUCKING DO ANYTHING RIGHT!”

He then proceeded to hit himself.

“Damn it, damn it, DAMN IT!” He growled under his breath.

Shiori jumped in fright as she was startled by Red(F)’s following screech.

“YOU LEFT YELLOW IN CHARGE?”

Taking a few deep breaths to calm herself, Red(F) looked apologetically at her daughter before stopping Wolf from hitting himself any further. Her grip on his arm was unbelievably strong.

“Alright…I don’t know what the hell you were thinking, making our precious cinnamon roll the leader of the BEA, but you can still fix this.”

Serina’s voice appeared, having apparently listened in on their conversation. “Standing by for QEC burst transmission to BEA forces. Ready to record.”

“Ma’am, BEA casualties at the main base are mounting up. Reports are that large amounts of heavy armour and large infantry assets are attacking with artillery barrages in support. BEA forces are preparing to evac.” the mechanical voice of Seraph went through her comms, “Wolf’s orders, running away to fight another day. Patching you through to his comms, Admiral.”

There was static as the channel switched.

“Admiral, I’m organizing a fighting retreat. There’s no way to stem the tide and hold the line. I’ll be waiting for you in Hyrule before leaving for New Eden.” Wolf said, “Need to see my wife and Red…. just finish up what you’re doing as quickly as possible.”

Verstanden. Sei vorsichtig, Kaiser.”, Yellow responded with concern before closing the channel. She let out a small sigh, before resuming the evacuation effort alongside her comrades.

Unfortunately, with the need to evade Scorpion’s Hand forces, the entire evacuation effort took another 3 days across the continent before the relief group reported that no further civilians specifically willing to leave were found.

It was at this time that Yellow met up by herself with Wolf as he’d asked. The blonde was still clad in her Valkyrie suit, air shimmering in gentle pulses of propulsion as the Fleet Admiral touched down beside him.

“I’m here.” Yellow said gently, a slim hand grasping her collapsed Caduceus staff.

“Danke, Admiral.” Wolf said, “Viel Glück (good luck).”

—————————————-

“Guten Tag…” Wolf said, his voice strained, and his eyes tired. He looked about ready to fall over if it wasn’t for the fact he was leaning against a wall.

“Thank you… I’m gonna take some time off… Fuck, those bastards were fucking persistent…” Wolf groaned, coughing from bit, “I’m gonna go back to my wife… And the Reds… I need to see.. Them…”

He began to limp off, a soldier coming to support him as he walked towards a transport.

“You’re in command, Admiral… You’re the highest ranked person here.” Wolf said from the transport, “I’ll notify the GDI I put you in command of the forces here until my return… I hope you don’t mind staying…”

“Wh-What?!” a startled Yellow gasped. Surely that was a mistake on his part.

It was true that she was the leader of GDI’s Fourth Fleet, but that didn’t translate over into commanding an army like the BEA. Not in its entirety.

Her focus in fleet command extended, at best, to fortified retreats, area control and tactical support. The Fourth Fleet was a force for peace, not war. Besides, it was literally unheard of for the leader of one armed force to appoint another from a different nation to lead it.

“This…this is a mistake…verdammt.” Yellow whispered in frustration as she watched the transport depart. She couldn’t stay, not for now at least. To actually stay for any extended period of time required the presence of an actual GDI military escort, which the relief group deliberately lacked. They were medics, not soldiers.

Looking around, Yellow glided over to one of the BEA officers, a Commander. “Excuse me, Kommandant? Besides me, who else is the highest in ranking authority?”
