Hearing that, Yellow closed her eyes and nodded gratefully. “Thank you…”

She opened her eyes to see the books she carried, then looked again at Ilta. “Then…if I may ask a request…are there any other books on Arcane Magic besides the ones I’m holding that I may borrow? For the purposes of my studying, I mean.”

“There are a few I could think of,” Ilta admitted.  “Though they’re a bit advanced for a novice mage.”

Yellow shrugged. “They’re still reading material either way. I won’t be foolish enough to attempt practicing the advanced ones until I understand them for sure.”

Arcane Magic was powerful, but she had to be careful. As the Arcane Primer had made very clear to her, miscasting any spell had dire consequences for the user.

Yall: Ashe should’ve been a black women!

Me: So the first black women in Overwatch should’ve been a nutorious gang leader who past is being a child with absent parents, got into trouble in school a lot and went to jail at a young age. Cause that would’ve gone on great with you guys.

Y’all: But she has the same face and body-

Me: Overwatch is a game with the most international diversity I’ve ever seen done well. A character is made up of more than a face and you know that argument is stupid. And there are some slim builds in Overwatch but that’s no reason not to appreciate how there are some non slim body in it too. And even the thin women are proportionally different from each other.

Y’all: … Her makeup is-

Me: Women wear makeup, some wear more than others, some don’t wear any at all. She looks nice so why are you mad?

Y’all: …

Me: Please don’t harass blizzard because they haven’t come out with something you personally wanted because at the end of the day your still gonna play Overwatch, aren’t you? So let blizzard take there time and keep your expectations reasonable. Because if a POC Women comes out and you guys are complaining for stupid reasons again I’m writing a letter to whatever god to smite you all.

Thank you for coming to my Tedtalk.

Finally, some actual sense. Thanks.

To that, Hope gushed happily. “Ah…so many more beautiful stories to enjoy.”

Lumi had a more appreciative look herself. “At least there will be more I can read on the pantheon.”

If either shipgirl’s emotional states were in the visible spectrum, one might have seen Hope glowing like the sun from how blissful and full of love she felt at the current time.

Seeing her beloved sister and lover at peace, reading and enjoying a moment of serenity, was enough to fill the heart of the maid shipgirl.

Ilta smiled warmly at Hope and Lumi.  “I’m glad you’re enjoying the books available here,” she mentioned.  “I hope you’re enjoying your time here on Terra Ancora.”

Both nodded, Lumi responding first. “We are. It’s a beautiful world.”

Hope rested her head on Lumi’s shoulder, her free hand curling around her lover’s own. “Mhmm. Still not as beautiful as you, sis.”

Lumi’s face reddened. “Hope…please, not in front of an angel…” Despite her embarrassment, it was very clear that her sister’s praise had warmed her heart greatly.

The healer bowed her head whilst carrying the books on Arcane Magic, her expression once again solemn. “I am Yellow, yes…though at the moment, I have not a single right to call myself Fleet Admiral.”

She eventually met Ilta’s kind gaze, finding comfort in her warm eyes. “Adventurer for now, I suppose. I’ve wished to begin learning Arcane Magic, hopefully by first borrowing these books and others of relevance. Though since you know who I am, I fear that even borrowing books may be an issue.”

A minor fidgeting was all Yellow displayed, and for a brief moment the healer looked uneasy before Ilta.

“Will it be so?”

“I see no reason as to why you should be denied these books,” Ilta mentioned, putting on a smile.  “You’re a personal friend of Lady Astrid’s, and you’re an Adventurer to boot.  So long as you remember to return those books, things will be fine.”

Hearing that, Yellow closed her eyes and nodded gratefully. “Thank you…”

Hope smiled at that, giving a reassuring look to Lumi. “See, sis, not that big a change after all. Things’ll be fine when the word gets out eventually.”

Lumi was about to reply, pausing to give thought to Hope’s and Ilta’s words, then gave a sigh. “I suppose so.”

The white-haired sibling giggled, planting a petal-soft kiss on Lumi’s cheek. “Don’t worry so much about it, my love. Let’s both continue reading our books, mm?”

Ilta smiled.  “I’m glad you’re enjoying the material we have available here,” she mentioned.  “There’s quite a bit of stuff available for you to read here, after all.”

To that, Hope gushed happily. “Ah…so many more beautiful stories to enjoy.”

An acknowledging nod from the healer. “Maybe we could ask the librarian here, the angel. She was the one who directed me to these books. You might have seen her as you came in.”

Closing the Arcane Primer for the moment, Yellow collected the other books on the Arcane from the pile. All the better to help refine her search.

Once the group reached the librarian, she was being visited by Ilta, who seemed to be arranging some matters.  Probably on business for Astrid.  Ilta looked over to Yellow and her party and smiled.  “Ah, hello there!” she said, floating over to Yellow.  “You’re Admiral Yellow, right? Lady Astrid informed me you were here in the temple.”

The healer bowed her head whilst carrying the books on Arcane Magic, her expression once again solemn. “I am Yellow, yes…though at the moment, I have not a single right to call myself Fleet Admiral.”

A small groan escaped Lumi as she heard who was responsible.

What she recalled of Rebecca from the scraps of pre-reboot information GDI had possessed was accurate to this new account of her behavior.

“Great…her doing, huh? Seems that didn’t change, at least. So somewhere out there, the true account of things exists.”

The question now was; who held it?

Hope gave a concerned glance to her sister, then Ilta. “I’m sure things’ll come to light eventually. It doesn’t sound that big a change to believe. Probably.”

“I should like to make mention that the official Imperial records are actually highly accurate to the true account,” Ilta commented.  “The only differences are in the creation of the universe and regarding the other gods being simply fragments of Lady Astrid.”

Hope smiled at that, giving a reassuring look to Lumi. “See, sis, not that big a change after all. Things’ll be fine when the word gets out eventually.”

A reasonable workaround. Quite a similar system to the libraries of the modern interstellar age too. Only in this case, it was for books and not pure data.

Yellow thought of the books she’d managed to gather so far. Given that this was the Temple Library, surely it held almost every book known to Ancoran civilization. Or at least, the Astridian Empire anyway.

“Since you’re here, Vesperr, are there any other books on Arcane Magic you’ve come across that you believe to be useful? I can at least have more material to study with, and I think this library might have them.”

Vesperr shrugged.  “I’ve never been in the temple library before now,” he admitted.  “I wouldn’t know what this library has for certain.”

An acknowledging nod from the healer. “Maybe we could ask the librarian here, the angel. She was the one who directed me to these books. You might have seen her as you came in.”

Hope’s smile was practically glowing as she nodded in response to Ilta’s query. “This novel is really good.”

Lumi nodded more slowly. “What I’ve read has been very informative…but some things don’t seem to line up. Hope and I got to meet Agape just before we got into this library. She was different enough from Astrid that this depiction of her in the book isn’t quite right.”

Finding the section of the book on the Goddess of Love, Lumi glanced at it. “You mentioned the difference between accounts earlier. For what I’ve read to be the…official…version, someone of great power within the faith must have laid it down. Couldn’t be for good reasons.”

“That would have been Rebecca’s doing,” Ilta responded.  “She was led to believe this version as the true account when she took the throne and started up the Crusades.  Lady Astrid simply hasn’t corrected these accounts for…admittedly propaganda-based reasons.”

A small groan escaped Lumi as she heard who was responsible.

If Yellow had to guess, the Mage’s Guild sounded like the definitive center for all types of mystical academia.

A chance to learn anew, and in something like Arcane Magic no less. A priceless opportunity if there ever was one.

“Sounds like a plan,” she agreed. “I assume their headquarters is here as well. But what about these books on Arcane Magic here in the library?”

Of the pile of books beside Yellow that she’d gestured to, 3 were on Arcane Magic specifically. “To borrow them would be nice, but…I’m technically not a citizen.”

“The Mage’s Guild has places everywhere around Terra Ancora,” Vesperr mentioned.  “It’s simply the biggest university chain for studying Arcane Magic.”

Thrud looked over at the pile of books and thought things over.  “I’m certain that we can borrow them,” she mentioned.  “Most every library return location around the planet has enchantments on it to return the book to its original library after being sent through it.”

A reasonable workaround. Quite a similar system to the libraries of the modern interstellar age too. Only in this case, it was for books and not pure data.
