Yellow was no stranger to the chaos of a war zone.
The dead rebel’s gory spray that had hit her vaporized upon contact with the personal shield.
Seeing that these civilians weren’t willing to go, she and her medics healed whoever they could and departed speedily for the next group of civilians the scans had detected.
The next group was just as hardened, but more willing to listen.
“Look, these are our homes. You have to guarentee we’ll have them back by conflict’s end.” the leader of this group, a woman who was also a BEA vet of 30 years, said, “If you can’t, We’re not leaving.”
Yellow knew her duty, having heard such a request many times before, and she wasn’t one to make promises lightly.
She also knew very well that to fulfil a promise like this meant the Initiative would have to be more involved in the conflict. Regardless, it was their safety and future that was most important.
If Fourth Fleet had to get themselves involved fully, then they would.
“We will do our best to make sure your homes are safe when you return, madam,” Yellow said with utmost sincerity.
Examine: The Caracal series of assault rifles, LMGs, Sniper rifles, carbines, shotguns, MMGs, DMRs, and SMGs. All are patterned after the Avtomat Kalashnikov Model 1947, better known as the AK-47. Originally made for conventional ammo until 2037, whenScorpio Armoury began to make them in the hybrid rifle system, as of 2051, they are now made to fire plasma. Known for their reliability and ergonomics, they continue to serve in the BEA’s arsenal.
Not a bad series of weapons, all things considered. Their reliability is a great asset.
“Um, Admiral… If it isn’t a bother, do you have a moment?”
Red turned from where he’d been gazing out an observation window, looking warmly at Montrose.
“Of course not, Montrose. Is there a matter?”
Montrose obeyed, taking up a more relaxed posture.
“I’d like that very much, Sir.” she chirped, smiling happily. “I’ve been looking forward to seeing them again.”
Of course, that was not the only reason she was so happy. She would no longer be alone, and in addition, she had a kind and caring Admiral that she could wholly devote herself to.
“You’ll fit in just fine, believe me.” Red replied with a warm smile of his own.
Soon after, the two took one of the transport shuttles available to proceed towards Zephyr. The FTL jump didn’t take very long, only a few minutes.
Hitting sublight, the shuttle emerged from FTL on a direct course for Zephyr. As with most of space, the view of the gas giant was quite something.
Zephyr resembled Jupiter in coloration, surrounded by various orbital habitats and orbited by 5 moons. The starbase housing the Initiative’s shipgirls was one of the more readily visible stations, and Red set an automated approach course there.
“Here we are at Zephyr. We’ll arrive at the starbase soon. Do feel free to enjoy the view, Montrose.”
“Y-yes Sir.” she nodded, as she nervously forced herself to look out of the window. She shuddered slightly; the vastness and emptiness of the starry void terrified her to no end, but it was something she was willing to overcome for Red’s sake.
She held a firm belief that ships like her did not belong in space, as she was clearly inferior in terms of technology.
However, despite the fear and apprehension, there was no denying the beauty of the starscape before her.
While Montrose enjoyed the view of Zephyr, Red was considering his options.
He wasn’t foolish enough to send someone into an unfamiliar environment, even more so for any of his shipgirls.
It was true that they mostly operated in space, with them being starships and all. There were a few shipgirls who originally belonged to the Initiative’s “wet” navy, though.
They guarded Eden’s oceans, and occasionally were deployed to other worlds with seas for support. And seeing as how Montrose was a ocean-based shipgirl, it seemed a fitting deployment.
The starbase the shipgirls stayed at was named, fittingly, Starbase Zenith. Originally just a plain administrative hub, it had since been expanded to accommodate the various unique needs of the shipgirl support infrastructure.
Once they’d docked at Zenith, Red had just led Montrose out of the shuttle and onto the dock platform when he’d heard it. A very familiar voice, and the pattering of feet.
“Ad~mi~ralllll!”
He sighed, and braced himself slightly.
i’m officially cancelling cringe culture. it’s over. go enjoy the things you like unabashedly and proudly because life is hard and sometimes things are just nice.

Primum Non Nocere
“Hey, stop waving the stick in my face.” Wolf said, clearly having had to stay up all night by the sound of his tone, as well as the look of annoyance, “I didn’t spend the last day and night fighting three divisions and a tank battalion to have someone wave a stick in my face.”
He sighed as he pushed the staff away, leaving several open wounds.
“There are tons of my men who are even more injured, save your healing powers for them. I’m perfectly fine with these scratches.” He said.
Yellow looked to her fellow medics, having a soft discussion with them before the two others nodded and departed for the fortresses to join up with the BEA forces and start treating them.
Staying with Wolf as they drew back to the fortresses themselves, Yellow’s voice was soft but firm as she bathed Wolf in the soft golden radiance of the Caduceus staff’s healing tether.
“If you are to fight the enemy, it is important that you be in the best condition possible. Ignoring these wounds now will only make things worse.”
The admiral knew Wolf would object, and right as he was about to do so Yellow stopped him there.
“Bitte, Kaiser. Would you want your men to lose morale if they see you ill-stricken by infections? We will heal your troops, but your health is also important. Verstehst du?”
Yellow glanced at the nearest BEA fortress, then at Wolf as she continued healing him. “Once we’ve healed everyone we can here, my teams and I will search for any other civilians in the nearby cities. Is there anything we should watch out for?”
“Point your staff where its actually useful, Admiral.” He said in annoyance, again pointing its aim away from him, “I’ve fought under worse conditions.”
He still had several scratches and gashes across his face as he walked to the command post.
“Watch for the Tigers. Those fucking tanks are everywhere.” He said, “Also watch out for demons.”
With a little further application of the healing stream, Yellow had healed Wolf completely. As the last of the wounds closed, she shut off the Caduceus staff and simply continued carrying it. “There, fully healed. I’ll keep your advice in mind.”
Reaching the command post, Yellow soon flew off to join her fellow medics in treating the injuries of Wolf’s troops.
Once they had healed everyone they could, the trio had flown off towards the nearby city to begin their search for civilians. But not before having their magically-inclined member cast defensive wards on all three of themselves.
Approaching the city’s outskirts, Yellow shared the information she’d received from the relief group’s scans of the city with her companions.
There were indeed still quite a few civilians scattered across the city, though there were also a number of Scorpion’s Hand tanks engaging some other force in the middle of it.
Making sure they avoided the Tiger tanks, the three entered the city itself and began heading towards the closest group of civilians.
Wolf looked in a broken mirror when he saw what she had done, and smashed it further in a rage. Using reversal magic, he reversed what she had done. He knew they would now scar like they should. She clearly didn’t understand the Aurelien cultural significance of scars.
——————————
Within the city were civilian militias, fighting a guerrilla campaign against the Scorpion’s Hand. They paid the admiral no mind. Gunshots and plasma bursts could be heard throughout the city, as well as explosions.
However, there were other inhabitants of the city. Monstrous wildlife had taken to scavenging the dead, and more supernatural entities had also made their home in the alcoves of the Bouzaculan city.
The architecture of the city was reminiscent of the traditional shogunate era Japan castles mixed with modern elements.
Seeing that certain civilians had chosen to fight the Scorpion’s Hand, Yellow and her fellow medics moved on, avoiding the battles.
Their only goal was to rescue and treat those civilians who didn’t want to fight.
Coming across a few such civilians hiding in a neighborhood, Yellow approached one of them. “It’s alright, we mean no harm. We’re from the Galactic Defense Initiative, Fourth Fleet. We’re here to get you out of the war zone safely. Are any of you injured?”

I’m interested to see how many of us there are on Tumblr.

As someone who has been living with severe suicidal ideation my entire life I wanna tell you all something, you don’t have to stay alive for yourself. People will say it’s a bad idea to live for external things because they’re temporary, and it’s true living for yourself is ideal but if you’re not to that point yet that’s ok too.
I’ve lived for my dog for the past 4 years, before that I lived for my snakes, before that I lived for my cat. You can live for whatever needs you and whatever matters to you. Live for your best friend, live for your plants, live for your pets, live for your animal crossing town. Live for whatever keeps you alive and the day will come when you can live for yourself.
This is something everyone should see. Thank you for sharing this.
Transformers kept me alive. When the 2007 movie was announced I was going through an incredibly hard time emotionally. I saw the preview and every time I thought about killing myself I thought, “but then I won’t get to see this thing I’ve always wanted to see, good or not.” And it got me through.
I’m in a place where I live for myself now, but don’t toss away a life preserver just because other people think you should be able to swim on your own.
