“Hey, stop waving the stick in my face.” Wolf said, clearly having had to stay up all night by the sound of his tone, as well as the look of annoyance, “I didn’t spend the last day and night fighting three divisions and a tank battalion to have someone wave a stick in my face.”

He sighed as he pushed the staff away, leaving several open wounds.

“There are tons of my men who are even more injured, save your healing powers for them. I’m perfectly fine with these scratches.” He said.

Yellow looked to her fellow medics, having a soft discussion with them before the two others nodded and departed for the fortresses to join up with the BEA forces and start treating them.

Staying with Wolf as they drew back to the fortresses themselves, Yellow’s voice was soft but firm as she bathed Wolf in the soft golden radiance of the Caduceus staff’s healing tether.

“If you are to fight the enemy, it is important that you be in the best condition possible. Ignoring these wounds now will only make things worse.”

The admiral knew Wolf would object, and right as he was about to do so Yellow stopped him there.

Bitte, Kaiser. Would you want your men to lose morale if they see you ill-stricken by infections? We will heal your troops, but your health is also important. Verstehst du?

Yellow glanced at the nearest BEA fortress, then at Wolf as she continued healing him. “Once we’ve healed everyone we can here, my teams and I will search for any other civilians in the nearby cities. Is there anything we should watch out for?”

“Point your staff where its actually useful, Admiral.” He said in annoyance, again pointing its aim away from him, “I’ve fought under worse conditions.”

He still had several scratches and gashes across his face as he walked to the command post.

“Watch for the Tigers. Those fucking tanks are everywhere.” He said, “Also watch out for demons.”

With a little further application of the healing stream, Yellow had healed Wolf completely. As the last of the wounds closed, she shut off the Caduceus staff and simply continued carrying it. “There, fully healed. I’ll keep your advice in mind.”

Reaching the command post, Yellow soon flew off to join her fellow medics in treating the injuries of Wolf’s troops.

Once they had healed everyone they could, the trio had flown off towards the nearby city to begin their search for civilians. But not before having their magically-inclined member cast defensive wards on all three of themselves.

Approaching the city’s outskirts, Yellow shared the information she’d received from the relief group’s scans of the city with her companions.

There were indeed still quite a few civilians scattered across the city, though there were also a number of Scorpion’s Hand tanks engaging some other force in the middle of it.

Making sure they avoided the Tiger tanks, the three entered the city itself and began heading towards the closest group of civilians.

YOU FOUND A GOOD ONE

HANG ON TO THAT DOCTOR

I found a doctor like this… and I almost cried… my “bad” cholesterol was 2 points above “perfect”, otherwise 100% healthy on the tests, and she said “body size doesn’t indicate health. There are large people that are unhealthy, there are large people who are perfectly healthy. There are small people that are unhealthy, and there are small people who are perfectly healthy. Healthy isn’t a specific body size.” I love her.

Where is this doctor so I can go

Someone needs to make a master list of competent doctors so we can find them.

staff:

Hi Tumblr—

We’ve heard from a bunch of you that Safe Mode was filtering posts from the LGBTQ+ community even though they were completely innocuous and totally safe-for-work. Please know that was never our intention, and we appreciate you letting us know so quickly—and forcefully! We’re deeply sorry. Tumblr will always be a place where everyone is welcome and protected, so we want to explain what happened.

The major issue was some Tumblrs had marked themselves as Adult/NSFW (now Explicit) as a courtesy to their fellow users, and their perfectly safe posts were getting marked sensitive unintentionally. That should never have happened. We’re sorry.

We’re making some changes that should improve things:

Changes to self-marked blogs

What was happening: Because we consider Explicit blogs to be predominantly sensitive content, we were automatically marking all their posts as sensitive. That was too broad.

What we fixed: Now each post is classified individually. As they should be.

Changes to reblog chains

What was happening: If an Explicit Tumblr reblogged a safe post, we were marking that reblog as sensitive. This was even happening to text posts. Which is silly.

What we fixed: We changed the logic so that if the OP is safe, all its reblogs will also be safe.

Changes to photosets

What’s (still) happening: When you make a photo post, a computer algorithm classifies the image as safe or sensitive. It’s a machine so it’s not perfect. And the chances go up with photosets because there are multiple images. But out of an abundance of caution we keep posts marked sensitive until the OP requests a human review (by tapping the appeal button on their posts).

What we’re working on: We plan to have photosets analyzed as a whole group, rather than as individual images. That should reduce the number of mistakes the machine makes.

Safe Mode is supposed to make sure people aren’t surprised by things may not want to see—specifically, nudity. It might take some time to get it perfect, but we’re committed to getting there with your help. Our algorithms will keep getting smarter as you give feedback on misclassified posts, and as you share your concerns and suggestions.

At the same time, several thousand Scorpian’s Hand soldiers attacked from the flanks, only to be cut down by hails of BEA plasma and bullets. Wolf came running, and opened fire at an enemy soldier charging at Yellow.

“Last I checked, there’s no payload to escort, Dr. Zeiglar… aren’t you supposed to be salty healing other players?” Wolf asked lightheartedly, not realizing it wasn’t Mercy.

Yellow had a look of confusion as she glanced at Wolf, even as she held the shield wall up.

Had he really mistaken her for Angela Ziegler? True, she was essentially wearing a variant of the suit designed by the esteemed doctor, but she was still just…herself. Though admittedly, she could see how people might confuse her with Ziegler.

And what was that about a payload and being salty to other players? Life wasn’t a game.

“Fleet Admiral Yellow, GDI Fourth Fleet. We met in person a while back, Mr Wolf. My people and I are here to liberate and treat these civilians from the conflict zone.”

“Whoops, sorry, Admiral. Thought you were Mercy from the game Overwatch.” He said awkwardly, “I won’t keep you from doing your job. I’ll just be providing suppressive fire.”

There was a video game about the organization itself? This Yellow had to see for herself, perhaps when this operation was over.

As the civilians soon entered the safety of the fortresses in Bouzac lines, Yellow opened a channel to the task force waiting above. “Team 1 reporting, first group of civilians ready for transport. Blink when ready.”

In flashes of blue, the Bouzaculan civilians in this area were Blinked aboard the medical cruisers. Once all of them were aboard, Yellow received the acknowledgement from the lead ship’s captain and AI.

“We hear you. We’ll scout the area for any additional civilians and bring them to safety, and contact you as we go along. Yellow out.”

Hovering a little closer to the ground, the Fleet Admiral nodded to her fellow field medics before the three of them gestured simultaneously.

The shield wall seemed to pulsate slightly before it suddenly exploded forward in a rushing tidal wave of golden light.

Every item that the energy pulse touched seemed to look very slightly deformed, and as the Scorpion’s Hand forces would have found if they were conscious, their weapons and vehicles were non-functional, having been damaged on the molecular level.

Yellow caught Wolf’s attention, the admiral and her companions steadily sweeping their Caduceus staves across Wolf and his forces to heal any injuries they might have sustained. “Mr Wolf, we need to know if there are any more civilians still out there. Our relief teams will need to rescue as many as they can.”

“Before that, are there any among your forces that need immediate medical attention?”
