“Mmm, Jake told me about you.” Yuki said, “He adores you and Platinum, spoke nothing but good things about the both of you.”

Yuki blushed at that.

“I’m Yuki, by the way.” She said, “Yuki Himekawa-Wolf. What are you doing here, Admiral?”

“It’s nice to meet you too.” Yellow replied softly.

Any other time, Yellow would have appreciated the praise directed towards her and Platinum.

But now, Yuki’s appraisal only felt hollow. Certainly, Platinum deserved that praise. But Yellow felt unworthy of it.

And from Yuki’s words, it appeared that she indeed did not know that she’d disappeared. Fair enough.

“I’m here on a personal matter. I’m sorry, but I can’t say more than that.”

“Fair enough.” She said, “Everyone’s got their reasons.”

Feeling the sadness in Yellow’s voice, she took her hands in hers.

“Hey, whatever is going on… Just know you can come talk to me, okay?” She smiled at her, “It’ll just be between you and me, okay? Well, other then what you want to keep to yourself, of course.”

Soon, a little girl who looked like a young, female Wolf ran into the room, jumping into Yuki’s arms.

“And this is Zelda.” Yuki said. The girl looked at Yellow, waving at her.

At that, Yellow returned Yuki’s smile wanly. She could be herself a little more around her. Was Yuki an empath as well?

“Thanks for the concern, Frau Himekawa. Maybe someday.”

When Zelda came in, Yellow’s smile grew a little warmer and she waved back. Children always did hit a soft spot of hers. “Hello, little one.”

The little girl went over to Yellow, hugging her.

Yellow returned Zelda’s hug, looking to Yuki at the same time.

“I’m sorry to request this of you, frau Himekawa, but I must ask that you not mention my presence here. There are things I still have to do.”

A half-truth, but it was close enough.

“I can’t guarantee I can keep that promise.” She said, “However, I can guarantee to say that you need to be left alone.”

“That will do.” Yellow acknowledged, releasing Zelda from the hug, stroking the child’s head one more time.

Hopefully, any Bouzaculan personnel would abide by this request of hers. Though with what she’d heard of the ongoing rebellion, perhaps there would be times where they would cross paths, like it or not.

“I have to get back to my seat soon. There’s still the rest of the concert, right?” the healer asked rhetorically as she got up and bowed once more to Yuki. “Thank you for your hospitality, frau Himekawa. May your travels be safe.”

Yuki went up to Yellow, pressing a kiss to her cheek.

“Don’t be a stranger, Yellow.” Yuki said, winking at her, “Be sure to enjoy the rest of the show.”

Going over to the door, she opened it.

“Oh, and Mrs. Himekawa is my mother.” Yuki said, “Just call me Yuki.”

Yellow couldn’t help but smile at how friendly Yuki was being. “Alright, Yuki. I will.”

With that said, she left the idol be, returning to her seat. She had to admit, Yuki had been very nice to talk to.

The blonde felt a little bit lighter, and breathed deeply as the concert-goers slowly returned from the break.

A Gummi Shipgirl

“It’s one of them.” replied the crew leader as they headed for one of the nearby doors. “Well, see you around.”

The crew soon disembarked from the corvette, heading elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Firelance’s guide was a single officer, a Cardassian Lieutenant Commander. She nodded to the Gummi shipgirl as she approached.

“Welcome to Starbase Zephyr, miss Firelance. I’m to take you to Engineering for review.”

The Firelance nods, blushing a little as she continues heading out that way. It was probably gonna be faster than stumbling around for an exit anyways.

”Okay!” Firelance replies. “What kind of review?” she asks, ready to follow her with a spring in her step.

The Lieutenant Commander turned and gestured for Firelance to follow as she began heading for a nearby turbolift.

“A general analysis and overview, meant to gauge your capabilities. Standard stuff. Although if you’re anything to go by, we’ll need some additional data for sure.”

With the exception of nullifier vessels, arcanotech like what Firelance had as part of her was very rare amongst the Initiative’s fleets. Every bit of information they could get counted.

Firelance follows along, nodding. “I admit, I was in a bit of an odd place at the time of… you know. Somewhere between a personal shuttle and a small starship in size. Oh, if you have any information on Gummi Blocks that should help you out quite a bit.”

Firelance hoped that would help them out at least a little as she followed, although, “I assume the general analysis is going to cover most of my capabilities, but do you have any idea how orbital drop modules would work in this form? I can replicate combat droids to fill them.”

“Orbital drops, huh? Guess your rig might have something. We’ll see.”

Soon enough the pair found themselves in the cavernous huh that was Engineering. The Cardassian led Firelance over to one person in particular, a girl managing quite a few holoscreens at once. Most likely another shipgirl.

This hypothesis proved itself correct soon when the Cardassian spoke to her. “Chief Engineer Halcyon, she’s here.”

Halcyon looked up from the screens to see the two, smiling. “Ah, the girl of the hour! Firelance, is it? Welcome to Engineering. I’m GDS Halcyon, Endurance-class support vessel, and also Chief Engineer for this Starbase.”

The now-revealed shipgirl held out her hand in greeting.

This whole broken notifications nonsense is gonna force us all closer together, honestly. If we want to continue on with our writing we’re gonna have to get real comfortable approaching one another to ask if our replies came through, or to tell each other we’ve posted. Just putting it out there now, I absolutely 100% do not mind if you come asking, especially now, when nobody knows what’s going on.

Given Tempest’s usual pride, it might have come as a surprise to learn that she was one of the last ships to signal readiness to the network. In her mind, carriers had the most diverse arsenal. If anyone would fire that weapon, it would most likely be Aegis, but it wasn’t hard to imagine someone like her being next in that line. Just the possibility of it got under her skin.

Tempest smiled warmly. The idea of having sisters… It was a comforting thought for her.

“It’s nice to meet you Dawn, Adana.” She said. “So… Why don’t we get something to eat, sisters?” She offered with a joking grin. Even just saying that word made her feel less lonely.

As if to humor Tempest, Adana’s stomach made a slight growl. The carrier flushed with embarrassment, but nodded. “I do feel a little hungry…”

Dawn smiled. “Me too. Even a good sim exercise can get one famished.”

Nearby, Aegis had apparently approached Tempest without anyone noticing. “Mind if I join in?”

“Aegis!” She exclaimed. “No, of course not!” She said quickly. As if anyone could ever refuse the gentle Titan.

“While you’re here… why don’t you meet my new sisters?” She offered.

Aegis smiled. “It’ll be my honor to.”

She looked at the other two carriers beside Tempest, who had gaped the moment they’d seen Aegis pop up beside their sister. “Far Dawn and Adana, right? Nice to meet you both.”

Dawn let out an “Eh?” in surprise before attempting to recover herself. “Wha…how did you know…?”

Aegis smiled and tapped the side of her head. “Battle network, remember? It may be decentralized, but I know each and every one of your names.”

She regarded the two of them warmly. “You two look out for Tempest, hear me? You three are family now, more or less.”

Was that a hint of sadness in Aegis’s voice at the last part? But just as quickly as it had come, it disappeared when the Titan perked up.

“Come on, let’s head for the nearest Atrium. I’m looking forward to a meal.”

Yellow refrained from commenting on that last part. Evidently she would have to be a bit more active in her own self-defense.

Not really a problem, as long as her new friends played their parts well enough. Besides, thus far her sidearm had handled aggressors pretty well.

“Then…for the sake of getting to know each other better, may I ask your names?” she inquired.

The daughter spoke up first.  “I am Thrud Cailmel of the Daughters of Astrid!” she declared.  “It’s a pleasure to meet you, friend.”

“Don’t be fooled by that last name, all the Daughters go by the last name of Cailmel,” the Gunner mentioned.  “My name’s Aelius.  Good to meet you.”

Lastly, the Elven mage spoke up.  “Call me Vesperr,” he mentioned.  “I’ll be your party mage, so try not to get in the way of me blowing up our enemies with fireballs, yes?”

So Thrud was the damage absorber, Aelius and Vesperr were damage dealers, and her the support. Well, with that layout she could help Thrud with her own abilities.

At least, what she could use of them without incurring the risks of emotional leakage. But just the gentlest of touches upon their minds would be enough to let her enhance their battlefield performance.

“Rest assured that I will be sure to support you and the rest of us in that regard, Vesperr.” Yellow reassured. “We are, all of us, stronger together.”
